Wayanad is a district located in the northeastern part of the Indian state of Kerala. It is situated at an altitude ranging from 700 meters to 2100 meters above sea level. The district has a total area of 2,131 square kilometers and is surrounded by the Western Ghats on the east, north, and south, and the Nilgiri hills on the west. 

The district is characterized by a rugged terrain with steep slopes and deep valleys. The region is drained by several rivers, including the Kabini, the Panamaram, and the Mananthavady. These rivers are fed by numerous streams and waterfalls that originate in the surrounding hills. 

The district has a tropical monsoon climate, with heavy rainfall during the monsoon season from June to September. The region experiences mild winters and hot summers, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 35°C. 

The district is home to several wildlife sanctuaries and national parks, including the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, the Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary. These sanctuaries are home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including elephants, tigers, leopards, deer, langurs, and various species of birds and reptiles.
