There are several forts in Kerala that are of historical significance. Here are some of them:
Bekal Fort: Bekal Fort is located in Kasaragod district of Kerala. It is one of the largest and best-preserved forts in Kerala and was built in the 17th century. The fort offers a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding landscape.
Palakkad Fort: Palakkad Fort is located in the Palakkad district of Kerala. It was built by Hyder Ali in the 18th century and later captured by the British. The fort has now been converted into a museum.
St. Angelo Fort: St. Angelo Fort is located in Kannur district of Kerala. It was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and was later captured by the Dutch and then by the British. The fort offers a beautiful view of the sea and the surrounding area.
Thalassery Fort: Thalassery Fort is located in Kannur district of Kerala. It was built by the British East India Company in the 18th century. The fort is now a historical monument and is open to visitors.
Hosdurg Fort: Hosdurg Fort is located in Kanhangad in Kasaragod district of Kerala. It was built by Somashekara Nayaka, the ruler of the Ikkeri dynasty in the 16th century. The fort is now in ruins, but still attracts visitors.
